Since 1995, the Tutzing Sisters had been looking for a place in Ongwediva to build a convent. Finally, in September 2018, the Generalate gave its consent to the construction of a double-story convent and a year later the building was ready. The first group of Sisters sent to Ongwediva was made up by Sr. Felicitas MUFENDA, OSB (Superior), Sr. Cecilia ASSER, OSB and Sr. Mary Magdalen MBANGU, OSB. They arrived at Ongwediva on 29 September 2019, welcomed by the Catholics of the future cathedral parish. Two Sisters followed in January 2020. Their apostolate includes teaching children in the Mission Kindergarten, doing home visiting and assisting the people in their various needs.
The Sisters’ apostolates in Ongwediva community are: Prayer, teaching in the Mission Kindergarten, assisting different groups in the church like the English Choir and Mother Circle group. They also do gardening and help upkeep of the church.
